      Description

Would it be possible to allow modify how the autoload threshold is being calculated? Also, can we make it possible for users to change it?

When looking at the Arabidopsis genome, I find I want the reads to load at much lower zoom level than the currently available setting.

Maybe we could allow the user to click-drag the threshold marker? Or maybe it could be set by a right-click menu? The right-click menu might say something like: "Set AutoLoad Threshold to Current View" or something similar. Then, when the range of sequence bases currently on display drops to or below the selected threshold, (e.g., <= 65,000) then the reads would start to load.

This works great - but it is EXTREMELY inobvious that you can make this change - as well as where to find the menu option. Right click from within the track is the only way to access this feature - which is GREAT.

Is there a button that could be placed at the end of the zoom slider? Perhaps next to the load data button?

I am sending this one to you Ann, for your suggestions.

This was a sort of last-minute feature request from me - which is why the UI part is less cool than it could be, but the basic functionality is in place. But it requires some testing, of course.

To address (partly) the UI issue:

Under the View menu, there is a function called "Clamp to View" which seems similar to basic concept to the setting of auto load function, in the sense that both are functions that related to the current view.

Let's add a new menu item immediately below "Clamp to View" (in the same section) called "Set AutoLoad Threshold to Current View" that will perform the same function as the corresponding right-click menu.

I don't want to add a new button to the GUI at this time mainly because this is likely to not be a commonly used function and current users tend to get a bit upset if the GUI changes in very visible ways. I'd like to do some usability testing before adding another button to the GUI - we need to understand how people will use this first.

            Best,

            Ann

needs a minor adjustment so that it loads after you move the autoload mark.

After you use the 'set autoload threshold...', Igb should immediately load all data at the new threshold status.

The autoloading after threshold change is broken. If I move to a new area, change the threshhold, nothing loads. Even if I zoom in a little or scroll. I have to actually grab-drag the view to get it to autoload.

So: set track to autoload. move the zoom to just above autoload threshhold. Reset threshold (shortcut or view>set...). Using zoom bars and scroll bars, you can move around and nothing loads. You can change style elements etc, and still nothing. It requires that you click within the main view to trigger the autoload. Just a single click is enough.

My argument is that immediately upon

            1) activating 'auto' load
            2) changing the autoload threshhold
            3) changing zoom depth by any method

autoload should ALWAYS attempt to load. user should not have to click anything else - not the scroll bar, not in the main window - that is the point of auto load.
