To avoid the delay in IGB opening up for people who have used it before, we have disabled the 'Loading last genome'(It now opens to 'Start' screen), but when you have to use the species menu to hunt down your genome and version number (cow, for instance) it was nice that it would pop up for you.
As a nice intermediary, could we (dynamically) reword the start screen to provide a hyperlink to the last genome. The sentence "To get started, choose a genome version using the Current Genome tab" could become "To return to the last genome, click HERE" where 'here' is the hyperlink to the last genome used. This avoids the sensation of delay, since it require that the user click something (thus delay becomes expected load time) but it saves the user the time of chasing down their genome every time they open IGB
