      Description

BioViz Connect has a very nice feature that lets users copy the path to a selected file or folder.

To use it, you right-click a file or folder and choose the option "copy path"

However, if you run a search and then try to "copy path" for one of the search results, the path is not properly copied.

Ideally, what would happen is that when you choose the option "copy path" the actual path to the thing you have chosen will be copied.

For this task, figure out why this is not working as expected. Propose a fix and also estimate about how long it will take to implement the fix.

The copy path is working "as currently designed".

There are several "paths" within BioViz Connect.
The path that the Copy Path is currently retrieving is the path to a file within the iplant system, not the URL to the file/folder.
          For example:
          /iplant/home/nowlanf/testThree/NSCLC-WT-small.bedgraph

          versus the full URL:
          https://chaitanya.bioviz.org/base/#/iplant/home/nowlanf/testThree/NSCLC-WT-small.bedgraph

There is another path/url option, the public link:
          https://data.cyverse.org/dav-anon/iplant/home/nowlanf/testThree/NSCLC-WT-small.bedgraph

Note that the path for the public link is the same, but the URL prefix is different.

We can use either of these three options. Originally we had the Copy Path right-click option copy the public path/url. I felt this was misleading, however, as it would not work within the browser if the file were set to private.

We decided to set the Copy Path as the path to the file within the iplant system, as this is the path that is required when running analyses. However, we try to autofill this information when we are able during analyses.

Before Karthik enabled the browser back/forward and URL options, the full URL (https://chaitanya.bioviz.org/base/#/iplant/home/nowlanf/testThree/NSCLC-WT-small.bedgraph) did not exist. Now that it does exist, I could see users wanting to get a link to a file/folders location.

I'm not sure what the best option here is, as this seems to be a usability/user-expectations issue.

Hide the copy path right-click option for the time being.

Need to do usability testing to determine how or if users would use this option.
