Description
Starting in May, we are recommending users who have questions about IGB use a newly set up Google Group to post questions.
However, because this is very new, there are not yet any messages posted.
For this task, review the HELP project in the Jira board. Make a note of issues that many people might have problems with. Add them as a links in the comments.
Then translate them to new posts on the google group. For the subject heading, use a summary of the request from the user. In the body of the post, make it clear that this is a transcription of an older post by writing something like:
In May 2020, an IGB user wrote:
"The other day I tried to start IGB and it didn't work. Help!"
We wrote back with:
"To solve this problem, reset IGB preferences to defaults."
Also, be sure to exclude any details that could identify the person who submitted the HELP request.
The group is here:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/integrated-genome-browser-help-desk
Before you get started, schedule a quick meet-up with Dr. Loraine so that she can explain in more detail!
The posts need to contain the text:
"In May 2020, an IGB user wrote:"
and
We wrote back with:
"To solve this problem, reset IGB preferences to defaults."
There should only be one post per issue.
Also, the identity of the poster should be one of us, ideally igb-helper, not integrated-genome-browser-help-desk@googlegroups.com, which it currently is.
The identity of the person who posted the original question on our Jira board needs to be protected. If there are any links to digital assets that could be confidential, these would need to be deleted.
