Description
On Tuesday morning Dec. 7 around 10:15 am, [~aloraine] tried to log in to her CyVerse account using BioViz Connect, but all she could see was a blank page.
She and Nowlan Freese investigated by looking at the javascript console in Chrome Developer tools and made the attached screen grabs showing error messages. One error message indicated that a variable named "error modal" (or something similar) was not initialized, leading to the blank page being shown.
For this task, please identify the problem and also please investigate why the code assumed that the error modal object existed when it actually did not.
Also, note that Nowlan Freese had no such problem at the same time, suggesting there is something wonky possibly about the tokens being used? Obviously, if one user sees an error and another user does not, then probably the error is user-related.
Further troubleshooting results:
- [~aloraine] also attempted to log in to her CyVerse account via BioViz Connect using an incognito window. The same error occurred.
- [~aloraine] then attempted to log to Nowlan F's CyVerse account via BioViz Connect using an incognito window. Success! She saw the table view as normal.
- Next, [~aloraine] logged out of the above window (nfreese's account) and attempted to log in, using her user name and password. Same error occurred.
Note that this issue occurred on Tuesday Dec. 7 which was listed as a CyVerse maintenance day. Unclear if this may have affected login, though it is odd the nowlanf account was able to log in successfully.
