      Description

Tardigrade - water bear - is an emerging model system for studying how animals can survive in extreme environments.

Although there are a few genome assemblies available for tardigrade species, the assemblies are still very "drafty" - lots of contigs and no chromosome level assemblies.

The annotations are also very "drafty" - not yet fully validated using RNA-Seq or cDNA sequence data.

And yet, researchers are proceeding with studying how tardigrade gene expression responds to changes in environmental conditions, such as the presence or absence of ionizing radiation.

Because IGB offers many features for exploring genome assemblies and annotations that are not yet well-characterized, we could help researchers in these fields a lot by letting them know about IGB and these features.

For this task, develop demonstration materials explaining why and how IGB can help researchers learning about or working with tardigrade genome resources.
