      Description

      1. Open IGB.

      2. Choose "Arabidopsis thaliana" and genome version as "A_thaliana_Jun_2009".

      3. Choose datasource as "Bioviz (Quickload))", expand the source and check "TAIR9 ALL" and choose the load mode as "whole genome".

      4. Open the "Selection Info" tab.

      5. Keep shift pressed and left click on parts on genome. This would make an entry in the selection info.

      6. Check whether the entries in the selection info for multiple selections are sorted in the order they were selected or should be sorted by start position.

      Testing Results:
      Sept 30, 2010 - Alyssa Gulledge

version 6.4 (6969) It is working properly. Selection data appears in the order that it is selected. Bug seems to be fixed.

      Sept 22, 2010 - Alyssa Gulledge

Version 6.3.1 (6884). After following the above procedures, the selected information appears randomly in the 'selected info' panel. There is in fact NO order in which they appear. For the images below, I used the very first gene in the display (AT1G01010.1). The selected loci were clicked left to right in sequence. As you can see, the data shows up randomly and there is a lot of shuffling as it adds in data. This might be more than needed, but the insertion order of the data for pic 1 is as follows (Using start positions as order identifiers).

      3630

      3995 3630

      3995 4485 3630

      3630 3995 4485 4705

      3630 3995 5173 4485 4705

      3630 5438 3995 5173 4485 4705

After multiple rounds of selection, this is ALWAYS the order this data appears in. Random selection of these elements also yields this same order. However, if selected in strict reverse order (right to left) the final data is displayed 3630 5438 3995 4485 5173 4705.

In version 6.3, there is a similar selection order issue. The same gene gave a slightly different order of data (as compared to version 6.3.1) for the left to right selection, but gave the order consistently: 3630 3995 5438 5173 4485 4705. With random selection or reverse order selection of the same elements in this gene, it returns the exact same data order as when selected left to right.

In version 6.2, the order is in which it is selected, not in chromosomal 'start position' order, i.e. it goes cleanly left to right when selected in that order. When selected in a random order, the selection panel shows the order in which it was selected, NOT sorted by start position.
