      Description

AncestryDNA is a popular consumer based genotyping service. A Biostars post (https://www.biostars.org/p/153805/) was interested in whether it was possible to load AncestryDNA directly into IGB. The only current method for viewing the AncestryDNA in IGB is to convert the data to a bedDetail file. However, the AncestryDNA data is almost identical to 23andMe data. Therefore, it would be relatively easy to add a plug-in to convert AncestryDNA to a bedDetail file, similar to the 23andMe plugin.

AncestryDNA data is nearly identical to 23andMe data. The primary difference is that 23andMe has four columns, where the fourth column (genotype) contains both alleles. AncestryDNA data has five columns, where the fourth and fifth (allele 1 and allele 2) each contain one allele. An example dataset for both 23andMe and AncestryDNA is attached.

Both companies data are aligned against the 2009, build 37 human genome version.

If possible, the 23andMe plugin could be changed to more general consumer genotyping name. The plugin would then have a menu to select what type of data the user is entering (23andMe or AncestryDNA). This would allow future potential SNP consumer data services to be added seamlessly in the future.
