      Description

Find out which Jira is the latest version and make a note of it here.

Our current Jira version is 6.3.15

Can we upgrade to the latest directly from 6.3.15?

            Posted question to Atlassian Community:

Looks like best practice is to clone one's current Jira and then upgrade that. Don't do anything to the live version of Jira.

            Our plan:

            • Clone current Jira on a VM of sufficient size and power to host a Jira 8.9, keeping track of all the steps needed to do this
            • Attempt to upgrade the clone, keeping careful track of all the steps needed to do this
            • Test the upgrade - e.g., make sure attachments added recently are available (this broke the last time we upgraded Jira)
            • Be able to repeat the above in a very short time period to reduce down time
