This articles covers series of examples on OSGI. However, examples uses manifest file for configurations, which are difficult to implement(covered in OSGI tutorial-0). Moreover, the example 6 and example 9 are two same examples with different implementations. The first one is implemented without declarative services and other one is the re-implementation of the first one using declarative services. This helps how using declarative services can reduce the burden of developing XML files.

Regarding the example 6 vs example 9, my understanding is that IGB is using declarative services (i.e. @Component for example).

As a side note, there seems to be some good FAQ information that may be valuable: https://felix.apache.org/documentation/faqs.html
