      Description

BioViz Web site advertises an early access version of IGB as being version 9.1.10, which is actually the current production release.

We should probably not state the version of the early release because on the page because it is too easy for it to become out-of-date.

            To test:

            • Visit bioviz.org. Check that there is no mention of which version number the early release IGB will be once installed onto the user's machine. The early release IGB when installed will have a version, but what this is should not be advertised on the BioViz site.
            • Install the early access version onto your machine. Open Help > About to see the documentation there indicating the IGB branch. It should be "main-JDK8" and not "master".
            • Visit the early access installation page on machines running Linux, Windows, and Mac operating systems. Check that the early access page shows a button offering to install the correct version for each of those platforms onto the user's computer.

            Testing on Mac

            Not working:

            • When I tried to open the IGB installer nothing happened. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the installer on bioviz early release, the file size for the dmg is smaller than the dmg for main-JDK8 downloaded from bitbucket.

Looking into problem with Mac installer as noted in previous comment:

            • Currently deployed early access Mac installer IGB-main-JDK.dmg size: 141M
            • File size for IGB-main-JDK.dmg in Downloads section of Bitbucket repo size: 154.5M

As noted, the deployed "dmg" installer is likely defective. To correct the problem, did the following:

            • Removed the installer manually from the host.
            • Re-ran bioviz-playbook code to re-deploy the Mac "dmg" installer
            • Observed that the "dmg" file deployed on the BioViz host is 155M instead of 141M.

Thank you Nowlan Freese for noticing this problem! Please re-try at your earliest convenience.

Now able to download and install the Early Access IGB from bioviz.org.
            Help > About shows

The current Branch Name : main-JDK8

Sidenote: The early access version of IGB does not appear to be notarized (I think this is normal). Should we include some instructions on the earlyAccessDownload page that tells users how to work around the Apple security (right-click the installer and select open, repeat to get the installer to start)?

Otherwise everything looks good on Mac.

            Still require testing on Windows/Linux

            Tested on windows OS:
As Nowlan Freese mentioned in above comments, I don't see any references to early access version on bioviz.org.

Installed the early access version on my windows OS. I can see the branch is now pointing to main-JDK8.

The early access page is showing me the right OS, which is windows, to install IGB.

Testing on Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS 64 bit

            • The early access installation page provided the correct version of the installer (Linux 64 bit).
            • I downloaded the file IGB-main-JDK8.sh but it would not run. My terminal stated that the installer file seems to be corrupted. I was able to download and install the release-9.1.10 IGB for Linux with no issues, so it would seem there is an issue with the early access linux version.

This happened with the Mac installer as well.
I made a change to the "deploy.sh" script in an attempt to fix this.
Please try downloading and running the installer now.
