      Description

There are several improvements that I would suggest should be made to bioviz.org to make it a bit more accessible. Specifically, being intentional about linking users to IGB YouTube tutorials/past workshops as well as pointing users to where they can find the next IGB workshop/demo would help users address any issues they're having more effectively. Here's a few ideas I had:

      • Add the most recent version of IGB and its release date. This should signal to users that IGB is still being supported/improved and that they can reach out to us for help!
      • In the Help tab, add a new section pointing users to the IGB YouTube channel tutorials. (Here is an example of what I'm imagining that might look like: https://genome.ucsc.edu/training/).
      • Similarly, add a section with information about upcoming (and possibly past) trainings/workshops that we're hosting with links and dates and locations. This might also include links to screen recordings of past workshops, too.

Notes from our most recent meeting about which changes need to be made to bioviz.org before the upcoming IGB release:

          • Remove the twitter logo/link at the bottom of bioviz.org
          • Remove the bullet points from the Overview tab to make this page look a bit more streamlined/less busy
          • Add a section to the Overview tab for new features coming with this new release
          • Add hyperlinks to mentions of the IGB User's Guide and the IGB Developer's Guide at the bottom of the Overview page
          • Remove mention of "New in 2020" from the Help page so that we're not dating ourselves (in other words, this removes any suggestion that we haven't updated/checked the google group since 2020)
          • Are Track Hubs complete? If so, the blurb at the bottom of the landing page should be updated

Dr. Loraine removed the Twitter logo on Friday, but the rest of the changes listed above still need to be made.

I'd also like to see an FAQ section under the Help tab of the website. This would be helpful to point users to before they come to office hours so that I'm not answering the same questions over and over.

I have removed mention of "New in 2020" as part of IGBF-3605. Tasks left to do (in addition to those listed in the Description of this ticket):

          Regarding the Track Hubs text:

          I propose this new text:

Viewing the same data in different genome browsers improves understanding. So we built a tool to open and view UCSC Genome Browser Track Hubs in IGB. You can try it here now.

I've updated the Track Hubs text to the blurb Dr. Loraine wrote above. I also added hyperlinks to mentions of the IGB User's Guide and the IGB Developer's Guide at the bottom of the Overview page. Here is a link to my commit, it's ready for review.

PR is merged. New content is deployed to bioviz.org. The text looks fine - it fits in the space. Thanks Paige Kulzer for the change. Moving to Done.
