I've created an appointment scheduler through Google Calendar that should allow a user to schedule a meeting with us. Here's a link: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/appointments/schedules/AcZssZ2JNQH0TLIl4tAj3T1YKJTWBUBFoMdMqDXzddT4TEFYYI0GncrPoUih3sPEC-cIVzZO-qmglhNW

I'd like to have the process of scheduling an appointment this way reviewed before I move forward with adding this link to the website. For review:

            • Use the link above to make a mock appointment with me, filling out all the fields you're prompted to fill out.
            • Make notes of anything that may be confusing while you're scheduling an appointment.
            • If possible, use both a gmail and non-gmail account to schedule an appointment. The non-gmail account will require an extra authentication step (based on a setting I chose to prevent spam), but I'm curious how much of a hassle this is and if it might deter people from making an appointment.

Used the link above to make a mock appointment with Paige. The fields prompted to be filled out were straight forward and easy to follow. Unfortunately, I do not have a non-gmail account to schedule the appointment so I was unable to test how much of a hassle that would have been for non-gmail users.

Thank you for the preliminary testing of the appointment scheduler, Dylan Marrotte!

I've added a link to the appointment scheduler in the form of a button to the Weekly Help Sessions page on bioviz.org. I've also updated the schedule on that page with four weekly topic ideas. Finally, I removed the "Previous Help Sessions" section from the bottom of the page now that we've switched the weekly schedule to set topics.

For this first round of review:

            • I'd like some input on the weekly topics I've chosen - are they general enough? Do they collectively cover everything an IGB user might want to know?
            • What do you think about the format and placement of the appointment button?
            • Does that "make an appointment" section need to be at the top of the page or does its current position make sense?

For reference, I used the following Google Calendar Help page to add the appointment schedule button to the website (see Add an appointment schedule button to your website): https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/10733297?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

Dr. Freese and I sat down to review these changes and agreed that devising a set of weekly themes is going to take a bit more time.

In the essence of time now that we're a week into August, I've removed the weekly meeting descriptions so that we can push the changes with the Google Calendar scheduling button and users (especially those from SDB that we just sent follow-up emails to) can create an appointment with me. We've also added a link to the Google Calendar to the Help overview page since a user that wants to make an appointment might not think to look on the Weekly Help Sessions page.
