      Description

We need to stay up to date on innovative new visualization tools in bioinformatics - like this one: http://rrwick.github.io/Bandage/

But it’s hard to do this without a systematic plan.

So how about if we make a Jira epic called “vis software overview” with issues for individual software tools. Whoever takes on the issue volunteers to get the software, figure out how it works, and demonstrate it to the group. During the demo somebody takes notes in Basecamp.

This could be very productive on many levels - possible benefits include:
      • add new tools to our collective toolbox for data visualization, would will help our biology research
      • give us insights into new ways to present functionality to users - UI design
      • help with due diligence for new grants - it helps a lot if we sound knowledgable about the tools universe
      • give us material for a review article on genomics visualization
      • give us material for a BioViz blog about visualization
