I have a suggestion for "connect" symbol.

Instead of a plug, how about something that looks like you could snap two things together – or maybe something more abstract, like two interlocking circles.

Image #13 jumped out at me. I liked the gene model shapes superimposed on the cloud, with the background of the sky showing through.

I like the exons plugging into the cloud in #9 (and variants) but I felt like the shape looked a little unbalanced - more weight on the right than on the left.

Maybe try a fuller cloud shape with the suggestion of gene models-plugging-in on the right or left?

I don't know if these suggestion are helpful or not. I do feel like trying different things and experimenting with different images is a super-good approach. Plus, the images you end up not using for BioConnect could be great for other logos/graphics/art.

#9 - It's raining genes!

It might be neat to smooth out the bumps on the left side of the cloud - for a more geometric, abstract look that still suggests a cloud but has fewer angles.
