Branch from master to create new development branch main-JDK8

          Description

          As per discussion about IGBF-3335, we will create a new main development branch from the latest tip of the master branch.

          This new development branch name will be "main-JDK8".

          Once it is made, Nowlan Freese will submit a PR from his branch IGBF-3335 as the source and using this new main branch main-JDK8 as the target.

                My apologies to Nowlan Freese:

                I forgot to mention that the branch main-JDK8 has one commit, which is an edit to the README.md file. Do you mind rebasing your branch onto the tip of the main-JDK8 commit?
